Configuring Email Accounts-Outlook Express (Mac)

To configure Outlook Express on a Macintosh:

To configure your E-mail account within Outlook Express 5.0 for Macintosh, please follow the steps listed below:

1. After opening Outlook Express 5.0, select the ACCOUNTS option from the TOOLS menu
2. Click NEW.

   Please note: If you use Outlook Express 5.02 or higher, the following image will appear first:

   

   Press the ASSIST ME button to proceed

   
3. The Account Setup Assistant will appear and will prompt you to select a name for your e-mail account. This name will be used to identify the account in the folder list and in any menus. When complete, click the small right arrow at the bottom of the window to proceed to the next step.

4. Select the option I ALREADY HAVE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS THAT I'D LIKE TO USE and enter your e-mail address in the box below. When complete, click the small right arrow at the bottom of the window to proceed to the next step.

   
5. Verify that the Incoming Mail (POP3) field displays: mail.yourdomain.com.
6. The Outgoing mail (SMTP) field should display: mail.yourdomain.com.

   When complete, click the small right arrow at the bottom of the window to proceed to the next step.

   
7. Enter your username in the Account ID box, and your password in the Password box.

   If you do not wish to supply your password each time you check for incoming mail, select the SAVE PASSWORD check box and then type the password for your mail account in the Password box.

   When complete, click the small right arrow at the bottom of the window to move to the next step.

   
8. Enter an Account Name into the Account Name field, and place a check mark in the box labeled "Include this account in my send & receive all schedule," and click FINISH
9. After completing the account setup assistant select the ACCOUNTS option from the TOOLS menu
10. Highlight the new account from the list and click EDIT
11. Under Receiving mail click the button labeled CLICK HERE FOR ADVANCED RECEIVING OPTIONS
12. Under Sending mail click the button labeled CLICK HERE FOR ADVANCED SENDING OPTIONS
13. Select SMTP SERVICE REQUIRES SECURE CONNECTION (SSL) and OVERRIDE DEFAULT SMTP PORT
14. Close the Accounts window

Your account should now be configured properly within Outlook Express 5.0 for Macintosh!
